Setting Up Your E-mail in Microsoft Outlook

This tutorial shows you how to set up Microsoft Outlook 2007 to work with your e-mail account.

To Set Up Your E-mail Account in Microsoft Outlook

  1. In Microsoft Outlook, select Tools > Account Settings.
  2. On the E-mail Accounts wizard window, select "New...".
  3. This will ONLY appear if you already have an account configured in Outlook!
    Select "Microsoft Exchange, POP, IMAP, or HTTP" and click Next.
  4. Check the "Manually configure server settings or additional server types" and click Next.
  5. Select "Internet E-mail" and click Next.
  6. On the Internet E-mail Settings window, enter your information as follows:
  7. Your Name
    Enter your full name.
    E-mail Address
    Enter your e-mail address.
    Account Type:
    Select POP3 from the drop-down menu.
    Incoming mail server
    Enter mail.servershack.com for your incoming mail server.
    Outgoing mail server (SMTP)
    Enter mail.servershack.com for your outgoing mail server.
    User Name
    Enter your e-mail address (Note! This is your full e-mail address again)
    Password
    Enter the password for your e-mail account.
    Remember password
    Check this box if you want Outlook to remember your password.

    Click "More Settings."

  8. On the Internet E-mail Settings window, select the "Outgoing Server" tab.
  9. Select "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication."
  10. Select "Use same settings as my incoming mail server".
  11. Select the "Advanced" tab and change the "Outgoing server (SMTP)" port to 2525.
  12. Click OK.
  13. Click Next.
  14. Click Finish.
